Burntown is an eclectic, eccentric, yet somehow concentric collection of individuals from the foothills of Northern California. The core are longtime friends from the town of Auburn; hence the 'burn' in Burntown. Some are contractors, school teachers, doctors and healers, and all have their own
special creative element they contribute.

The camp on the playa is the culmination or preparation, practice and community gatherings that take place year-round. Burntown is not something brought together merely for seven days on the playa.
Burntown is a way of life.

Members of Burntown have been attending Burning Man for as long as 10 years. The foundation and ethic of Burntown was established in 2002 and became an actual camp from 2003 onward.
Burntown featured member: Timbshoo
Burntown's resident chairman is the unflappable Timbshoo. Although sometimes mislabeled as despotic, Timbshoo is actually an essential and necessary component of Burntown. Without him members might be inclined to walk off with the job only half finished. Timbshoo, following in the footsteps of Jesus, is a master carpenter and responsible for much of the construction in the camp. Timbshoo is also Burntown's designated driver. In his spare time, Timbshoo likes to beat up small children while chanting oontz oontz oontz oontz.

Joey
Tony Tohono is the guy who does "everything" for Burntown-too bad he doesn't stick around to enjoy it. Tony likes to spend his days on the playa frolicking with his camera and teasing the ladies by prancing around in his boxer shorts. His ever present smirk tells you he knows something you don't.
Joey is Burntown's consummate ladies' man. When Joey isn't keeping Burntown's chairman in check he can most likely be found lounging in the Broken Kitty doing his 'Camp Cares a lot' routine with a bevy of heartbroken young women. If that fails to find him it's likely he is out windsurfing the playa.
